UNDER CONSTRUCTION

2019. Dimensions Variable circa 250 x 250 x 1300 mm. Plaster, marble, wood, concrete. Florence Trust Residency

For the Summer Show, Hunter is exhibiting a series of small-scale sculptures that refer to a fictional built-environment that is under-construction. While the objects seem familiar, like the equipment used on a building site, they elude identification as a specific tool or place. The miniature pieces beckon the viewer to pick them up and play with them. In contrast, such direct agency within our built-environment is rare and often illusory. The work echoes our physical and emotional responses to urban/residential space: What is home without depicting it as an architectural model?
