UNDER CONSTRUCTION II

2020. Dimensions circa 800 x 900 mm. Concrete, plaster, marble, pigment. Surface Matters Exhibition, London.

Under Construction is a series of small-scale sculptures that refer to a fictional built-environment that is under-construction. While the objects seem familiar, like the equipment used on a building site, they elude identification as a specific tool or place. This work responds to the ever-changing urban landscape as re-development and imploding cities are a global trend. Under Construction responds to the uncertainty of change as physical markers and landmarks in time and space move, merge and transform.

The work consists of hand-sculpted pieces that are approximately 2-5 cm tall that sit on concrete plots that rest on top of hand cast bricks.
